If you wish to travel to Australia to see family or friends, go for a holiday, take a luxury trip, or a short business trip, you will require an Australian Travel Visa. The Australian High Commission Islamabad is the place to get your Travel Visa. It is located on Constitutional Avenue and Ispahani Road, Diplomatic Enclave, No. 1, Sector G-5/4 in Islamabad. Access to the Diplomatic Enclave is usually limited to the Diplomatic Shuttle Service which is located on 3rd Avenue on University Road. It is usually open from 8am to 4.45 pm from Monday to Thursday, and 8 am to 12.30 pm on Friday. The Embassy observes a number of public holidays including; new year day, eid milad-un-nabi, good friday, easter monday, queens birthday, eid-ul-fitr, eid-ul-azha, christmas day, additional DFAT holiday and boxing day.
To make an application for a Visa, the applicant must lodge a complete, signed application form for the correct visa subclass, and pay the applicable charges. They will also need to provide biometrics, and applications for individuals who are under the age of 18, will need to be signed by a legal guardian or parent. All the supporting documentation and information required, will have to be submitted, along with the application. All information that is not in English will require certified translation. You will usually find a checklist under the different Visa types, to ensure you do not fail to attach any required documentation.
The Visa Application Process is an elaborate but relatively easy process that involves:
a. Selecting a Visa subclass appropriate for the reason for your visit to Australia, then downloading the appropriate application form.
b. Your Visa application will require supporting documentation. A checklist for this supporting document can be found under the Visa Types application form. To ensure that there are no delays with your applications, it is important to provide the supporting documentation at the same time you are submitting the Visa application.
c. Arrange for payment of the fees for the Visa application process, via a bank draft in Pakistan Rupees, which is payable directly to the “Australian High Commission Islamabad”, in any Pakistan Bank.
d. Organize for an appointment with the AVAC to allow you to submit your biometrics while you are lodging your application. Once you have lodged your application, you will wait for your application to be processed. If the Australian Visa Office requires more information, they will call you to request for it before your process can be completed.
e. Once you have completed and submitted your application, you will be able to track it from the website, using your VLN number which is found on your receipt, and your date of birth.
Some of the considerations for a successful Visa application include; a character assessment, a medical assessment and reason for visit assessment. From time to time, the Australian High Commission Islamabad may revoke applications for certain types of Visa, so it may be important to consult with the embassy before lodging an application. To access the embassy on foot or with a car, you will require to have obtained prior clearance from the Diplomatic Protection Department. Consular and passport enquiries for Australian citizens, can be lodged using the email addresses provided on the Pakistan Embassy website.
