The Australian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates is based in the Abu Dhabi. The Consular section of the Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi

The Australian Embassy Abu Dhabi Consular department offers consular services to Australian citizens and permanent residents travelling or living in the UAE as well as UAE citizens who wish to travel to Australia. The services offered include advice on document legislation, passports issues and Australian Visas, and the general advice on the Australian local laws and customs. However, the capacity of the Embassy to offer such services is subjected to local laws and conditions, and the international laws governing consular work.

 

Australian Visa Application services from the Australian Embassy Abu Dhabi

Any kind of decision made for granting an Australian Visa to a UAE citizen remain the prerogative of the Embassy subject to the Visa applicant lodging a valid application and meeting all the relevant criteria. Australian visa application forms, information forms and booklets are in the Embassy’s official website as PDF file. To make a visa application at the Australian Embassy in Abu dhabi, you’ll need to properly lodge the application form, pay up the applicable visa application charge then lodge the documents.

There are different types of visas offered by the Australian Embassy Abu Dhabi to UAE residents:

1. Tourist visa (Subclass 676) for UAE citizens who visit Australia for sightseeing, holiday, social or recreational purposes, or to visit friends, relatives or for other short-term non-work purposes.

2. Travel visa: Passport holders from the United Arab Emirates will be required to have a valid Australian Travel Visa to visit Australia either for tourism or business purposes.

3. Family Visa or Fiancé Visa: The Australian Embassy Abu Dhabi provides partners, spouses, parents, children and relatives of Australian citizens and permanent residents the opportunity of migration from UAE to Australia

4. Permanent Entry Visa: For permanent settlement in Australia. It is offered under two main migration streams: the migration program and the humanitarian program.

5. Sponsored Family Visitor Visa for those seeking to visit their family in the country for a stay period of not more than one year. However, a formal sponsorship by an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of the country is required.

6. Domestic Worker (Temporary) Diplomatic and Consular visa which allows for a temporary or permanent stay of domestic workers from UAE who intend to be employed full time and exclusively in the household of an accredited diplomat or consular office in Australia. 18 – 45 years olds from the United Arab Emirates are eligible to apply for this Visa to Australia.

7. Student Visa and Student Guardian Visa: For any UAE students who wish to study in Australia as well as parents, guardians or relatives of students studying in Australia, it mandatory that he/she obtains an appropriate Student visa before commencing on any other activity.

8. Working Holiday Visa: Meant for those aged between 18 to 30 years and are interested in having an extended holiday while supplementing their funds with short-term work for a period of not more than 12 months.

9. Electronic Travel Authority (ETA): an electronically stored authority for short term visits of not more than three months. It is available to any passport holder.

10. Business Skills (Provisional) visa for business migrants for up to 4 years, but only after establishing the requisite level of business or maintaining their eligible investment.

11. eVisitors: Just like ETA, this is also an electronically stored authority for those wishing to visit the country for business reasons for up to 3 months.

12. Visitor Visa: For a temporary stay in Australia for up to 3, 6 or 12 months.

13. Temporary Entry (Short Stay) Visa: For those willing to visit the country for specific purposes that to some extent, benefits Australia.

 

Other types of visas offered by the Embassy include Medical Treatment Visa and Training and Research Visa.

 

Passport services

UAE citizens can lodge a passport application in person to the passport department at the Embassy of Australia in Abu Dhabi. But before doing so it is advised that you find out the type of form that you need to use depending on the purpose and period of your visit. There are two forms available; PC7 and PC8. Carefully read the instructions for that particular form and review the checklist to avoid unnecessary mistakes, read the photo instructions before finally completing your Australian Passport application Form online. After filling in all the required information, you then proceed to print the form, sign it within the provided signature box and include the date.

 

For any United Arab Emirate citizen who currently holds an Australian visa and have obtained a new passport, he/she will need to inform the Embassy of his/her new passport details. If the new passport has a different name, or date of birth, then the holder will be required include a copy of all the bio-details page of the old passport as well as related evidence of the alteration such as an Identification Certificate.
